‘Much needed development’ comes to life
Our eco-friendly new-build specialist development in Dunstable for local adults with disabilities has now been officially launched in a special opening ceremony!
The new supported living development called Quarry Walk is designed to transform people’s lives by providing purpose built, bespoke new-build accommodation for twenty adults with care and support needs.
The development, which comes as a result of a collaboration between HBV Group and Central Bedfordshire Council to ensure it meets the highly specialist care and support needs of adults with disabilities in Central Bedfordshire.
During the design process, Central Bedfordshire Council customers were instrumental in helping with the design and look for the bedrooms, bathrooms and garden areas.
They also offered input on how it should be decorated and also advised on the communal sensory gardens and assistive technology to help people become as independent as possible, whilst living in a safe and caring environment.
Salutem Care and Education will provide round-the-clock care to tenants and Inclusion Housing is the Registered Provider.
HBV Group has placed strong emphasis on ensuring the scheme, which consists of two buildings on the site, exceeds building regulation requirements for thermal performance and energy usage achieving a betterment in C02 emissions of 12%
The development features solar panels for electricity generation, air source heat pump technology which repurposes heat from inside the building via the ventilation system to heat the hot water and longwave infrared heating systems.
The development also incorporates wastewater heat recycling and a thermally efficient envelope. These measures combined mean the development achieves an EPC A, and the result is a direct benefit to tenants who will experience much reduced energy costs to comparable dwellings.
