Local requirements
Construction at the site was officially started by Deidre Brock, the MP for Edinburgh North and Leith. The twenty-four new supported housing apartments are specially developed to provide long-term homes for people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and other complex care requirements.
Local Authority collaboration
Residents are be referred to the scheme by the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership based on significant local need, with care provided to residents by Lifeways, and housing management services provided by Inclusion Housing.
First of its kind in Scotland
The £5.4m scheme is the first of its type in Scotland and is already changing the lives of disabled adults in the local community.
The development is at the heart of major regeneration of the Leith area of Edinburgh and is a five-minute walk from the heart of the one of the most historic cities in the world.
Local development
Our construction team instructed an all-Scottish team including Edinburgh-based architects (56Three) structural and civil engineers (Curtins) locally-based mechanical and electrical consultants (Horizon M&E) and Alloa-based contractor Marshall Construction.
Beautiful location
Heron House has a number of facilities on the doorstep which includes the riverside 'Water of Leith' walkway which is a 12-mile walkway which skirts through the city and past the service. Heron Court is perfectly placed to enjoy all the attractions and facilities of Scotland’s amazing capital city. HBV Group is delighted to be active in Scotland and we are looking forward to delivering more supported living developments in other towns and cities.
